Haus Finds #001 | Vintage MCM Starlyte Bowl
Share
Wherever I’m thrifting, I always make my way to the glassware section—hunting for vintage crystal, coupe glasses, old china, or the occasional piece that stops me in my tracks.
Last week, at a local DMV thrift shop, that piece was sitting humbly at the back of the middle shelf.
A vintage MCM Starlyte bowl from the 1960s.
The gold bands, the frosted geometric weave pattern, and the sheer size caught my eye. It has all the character of MCM design, with details that also speak to my love of Art Deco glamour and grandeur.

Turns out it’s part of a Starlyte chips and dip set, trimmed in no less than 22kt gold at the rim and base, with gold flecks throughout.
These days it holds fruit—not chips—and sits proudly at the center of the dining table.
This is exactly where pieces like this belong. Not forgotten. Appreciated. Still bringing a little history, character, and joy into everyday life.
